Kathy April Rush is Associate Director, North America Supplier Diversity for AbbVie Inc. where she designed, developed and built the biopharmaceutical company’s supplier diversity program. Responsible for overseeing and managing the supplier diversity initiative with a wide range of responsibilities including consulting with internal stakeholders on diverse supplier sourcing strategies, stakeholder training, communications strategies, establishing goals and tracking metrics, Second Tier management, mentor protégé programs, pro-bono consulting for diverse suppliers, global implementation and designing supplier development activities to assist in building capacity for diverse suppliers. Kathy sits on numerous Boards and Councils.
Prior to her 13 years in Supplier Diversity, she spent 13 years as a Recruiter for various corporations. Kathy is a published essay author in the book, On Staffing: Advice and Perspectives from HR Leaders and has been highlighted in Private Club’s magazine, Frasernet Success Guide, Southwest Airlines magazine and Odyssey Couleur publication. Kathy has appeared in Chicago Minority Business Report, Crain’s Chicago Business, Black MBA Magazine and Chicago Tribune’s RedEye; highlighted in DiversityPlus Magazine as one of 25 Champions of Diversity and featured in Heart and Soul Magazine’s Women of Substance in Healthcare. Kathy was named one of the “Top 100 under 50” by Diversity MBA Magazine. Kathy has received numerous awards in her current capacity. Her community and civic involvement includes YWCA Lake County Board Chair and others.
Kathy holds a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and has a MBA from Dominican University, MBA.
