Cindu Thomas-George

Cindu Thomas-George is an award winning tenured professor of Communication Studies at the College of Lake County (CLC) specializing in Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, and Online Education. In addition to her faculty role at CLC, she is the co-founder and Lead Trainer for the Diversity and Equity Infusion Project (DEIP), an institutionalized training program that is committed to preparing faculty and staff to work towards creating a college culture that promotes and values diversity, inclusion, and equity. Additionally, as the Founder and Principal Trainer of Shakti Diversity and Equity Training, Cindu works with organizations across a variety of industries to provide professional development that promotes equity, inclusion, cultural competence, and effective and strategic communication in the workplace.

Cindu holds an M.A. in Communication Studies from San Francisco State University where she learned the art of teaching, public speaking, and the importance and relevance that diversity and social justice education has in our world. Growing up as a second generation Asian Indian American, Cindu has experienced first-hand the communication and cultural barriers that can come along with being a daughter of immigrants and a woman of color. It was through her own life experiences and the benefits she experienced from her own education that drew her to a career committed to working towards creating an equitable society that values cultural competency and social justice.
